Commonly Asked Questions

Wheat Straws

Yes! Our straws have been independently tested by SGS and have a gluten allergen reading of less than 2.5 ppm. This is significantly lower than the Gluten Free Organization standard of less than 10 ppm to be classified as Gluten Free. Even though our wheat straws are not meant for consumption and therefore not required by the FDA to meet the requirements classified as Gluten Free, our straws STILL meet these requirements as they satisfy BOTH of the conditions required by FDA: - Contains less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten - Any unavoidable gluten in the food due to cross-contact or migration of gluten from packaging materials is less than 20 parts per million (ppm) gluten.

The wheat straws are made from the leftover straw after the grain is harvested, not the grain itself. The gluten in the plant is actually held within the seed of the plant.

It is highly recommended that you consult your doctor and/ or allergist if you have an allergy before using the wheat straws

Our straws have been thoroughly tested by SGS a worldwide leader in testing and have been cleared of more than 25 of the most common pesticides and other harmful substances. Please inquire to hello@littlegreenpanda.com for more information.

Disposal

Our straws come from from the earth in their purest form without any coatings or waxes. Once used, you can simply throw them away or add them to your own compost bin. They will break down naturally, like a leaf.

The Wheat Straws are 100% biodegradable and will breakdown depending on conditions within 3-6 months.

We recommend our straws are disposed in composting bins which are sent to industrial composting facilities. Here they will naturally degrade into organic materials. If you don't have a composting bin, the straws will take longer to degrade naturally compared to commercial composting.
